Naturally made of clay

Only natural and especially high-quality clay is suitable for Liapor Products.
The up to 180 million years old clay, that came into existence during the Age of Lias, is not only suitable for the fabrication of an excellent product, but furthermore the product was named after it: Liapor. Working the raw material, landscapes are treated with care and areas are conserved.
Born in fire
The clay's naturalness remains during its further transformation into clay spheres. Fire is the decisive element in the process of fabrication. After being thoroughly prepared, the raw clay is burnt at a temperature of about 1,200 °C in a rotary kiln. During this process the organic components of the clay, which are regularly dispersed, combust. The spheres expand and ceramic Liapor Expanded Clay with very fine pores comes into existence. Even considering a natural product like Liapor Expanded Clay, weight, size and strength can be controlled exactly.
Light and compression-resistant
Up to five cubic metres of Liapor Clay Spheres emerge from only one cubic metre of clay thanks to the natural expanding properties of the raw material and to an optimised method of production – this efficient utilisation of the raw material forms an important ecological aspect. Liapor owns an ideal particle shape: the surface is moderately rough and closed. The inside shows a regular fine pore structure. At a low weight Liapor features an optimum particle strength and consequently best conditions for being an excellent building material.
Treating nature with care
Liapor faces up to this task right from the start. In doing so, the compliance with the European standards for lightweight aggregate EN 13055-1 and EN 13055-2 and their national versions is a matter of course. The recultivation of worked areas fulfils the latest findings and regulations. Nature gets back its loan in an ecologically useful way. Few raw clay material results in plenty of building material – this is a convincing formula that treats pits with care. Applying extensive methods of production, ranging from flue gas cleanings to prepared building products that can be recycled without any problems, the circle of an environmentally conscious and future-proof building material is complete.
