Liadrain
Expanded clay for landscaped roofs
Liadrain® his a crushed expanded clay product for intensive and extensive roof planting projects. In single-layer structures, Liadrain® can be used as a vegetation and drainage layer, whereas in multilayer constructions, it forms a drainage layer which also contributes to water retention. Liadrain® has been tested by the research company Landschaftsentwicklung Landschaftsbau e.V. (FLL) and complies with its guidelines for mineral fills for drainage courses and vegetation substrates for single-layer extensive landscaping.
A pure mineral substrate
As a purely mineral, open-pored product, Liadrain® is able to store a large volume of water - more than 80 % of its dry weight. Even when the material is saturated, the balanced distribution of granule sizes ensures an outstanding soil-air content at all times. Chemically neutral, frost-resistant and non-flammable, the Liapor substrate is also completely free of germinable weed seeds and regenerative plant material and is resistant to hydrolysis, soil solutions and microorganisms.
An outstanding mix
Organic and mineral mixtures which tend to become compacted can be permanently aerated through the addition of Liadrain® as a substrate material - in particular when growing tree species and shrubs in containers. Thanks to its action, Liadrain® permanently improves the physical and chemical properties of the substrate. When delivered, the crushed expanded clay contains no nutrients. Users are recommended to employ coated controlled-release fertilizers to feed the plants. In the case of plants whose roots require humus, an organic substance in the form of quality controlled compost or bark humus can be added.
Loose, bagged or silo delivery
Liadrain® can be delivered as a loose fill as well as in "Big Bags" or foil sacks. When Liadrain® is delivered by silo tanker and blown onto the roof via flexible hose, it is possible to serve considerable time and cost compared to bag or sack delivery – even when handling smaller volumes.
