Ready-mixed lightweight concrete for bridge building

Fast and uncomplicated

Liapor ready-mixed lightweight concrete is an outstanding material for bridge-building applications. This is because it not only possesses the strength of normal concrete while weighing significantly less but is also fast and easy to apply. In the bridge-building field, in particular, Liapor lightweight concrete permits almost unrestricted design freedom without any compromises at the level of structural safety. This is because with low concrete densities of between 0.8 and 2.0 kg/dm³, it is significantly lighter than normal concrete but nevertheless permits the realization of particularly slender and elegant supporting structures thanks to its strength classes of up to LC80/88. This is due to the corresponding density class, which determines not only the strength but also the modulus of elasticity. In the case of Liapor lightweight concrete, this is considerably lower than in normal concrete of comparable strength. What is more, all Liapor lightweight concretes are particularly durable and compared with normal concrete.

Suitable for pouring or pumping

The benefits for bridge construction are rounded off by the fast, flexible and economic handling made possible by Liapor lightweight concrete. It is pre-mixed in the concrete plant to meet the requirements placed on the structure and can then be transported by mixer truck to the building site where it can be handled using transport buckets. In addition, it is also possible to pump Liapor lightweight concretes as of bulk density class 1.8. Both modes of application ensure that the lightweight concrete reaches its destination quickly, easily and economically – irrespective of whether the entire body of the bridge or merely the uppermost superstructure is being constructed.
