With some two million litres of water, the recently opened Aquatis in Lausanne in Europe's largest fresh water aquarium. The water is purified using filter cells containing a total of 54 cubic metres of type H4-8R Liaperl with 4 to 8-millimetre spherical granules. The expanded clay spheres form the substrate for micro-organisms that clean pollutants from the water by means of biofiltration.
